August 30, 2022
Two teams were deployed this day, one team sent to Yocumtown, PA (York County) while the other team was deployed to Kempton, PA (Berks County). A QLCS line was intercepted by TILTTING this day and data supporting rapid intensification of that QLCS squall line was gathered. Note: Field errors occurred this day.
August 7, 2023
This day was rated as a Moderate Risk day by the NWS Storm Prediction Center. A non-tornadic supercell was intercepted by TILTTING in Taneytown, MD that day and trailing right behind the supercell was a strong, fast-moving QLCS line—both storm systems were intercepted. This same squall line went on to produce widespread damage in areas such as Westminster, MD, while also intensifying the previously intercepted non-tornadic supercell from Taneytown. Over a short time period, the QLCS line provided enough dynamics to allow what was a non-tornadic supercell to a tornadic supercell, causing an EF1 tornado to touch down in York County, PA.
